Ecological City-Tour

Private tour, done in an acclimatized vehicle (a van, a micro-bus or a tourism bus), including the following attractions:

The Amazonas Opera House – Built in neoclassic and art-noveau styles and inaugurated in 1896, the opera house is a landmark of the golden era of the rubber boom period (1890/1910). The chandeliers, chairs, crystals, paintings, masks, iron frameworks, the marble and even the majestic dome, were all imported from Europe. The Portuguese Architectural and Engineering Office, the Gabinete Português de Engenharia e Arquitetura de Lisboa, was responsible for the project. A great number of architects, constructors, painters and sculptors came from Europe to the implementation of the building. The spectacle room holds up to 685 people, distributed among the audience seats and the three floors of VIP rooms. In the noble salon, located on the second floor of the theater, is the most luxurious area of the building. Its main attraction is a painting in the ceiling (the "Glorification of the Fine Arts of the Amazon”), by Domenico de Angelis. In each one of the columns of the first pavement in the spectacle room, there are theatrical masks honoring famous musical and theatrical composers, such as Ésquilo, Aristóphane, Moliére, Carlos Gomes, Rossini, Mozart, Verdi, Chopin and others. The stage curtain from the spectacle room, created and painted by Crispim do Amaral, is a representation of the “Meeting of the Waters” of the Negro and Solimões Rivers.
